Music therapy

​Tenor Joe Roche is an opera singer and music therapist, originally from Clonmel in Co. Tipperary. Having studied singing with Dr. Veronica Dunne and reading psychology at Trinity College, Joe left Dublin in 2005 to continue his singing studies at the Royal College of Music in London and to pursue a career in opera in the UK.

Following a singing career that included full-time engagement at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden and Welsh National Opera in Cardiff, Joe returned to Ireland in 2022 to train as a music therapist at the University of Limerick, where he graduated in June 2024. As well as performing, he now works as a music therapist with persons in palliative care, with dementia sufferers, children with complex needs, and in a school context with neurotypical and neurodiverse young people.

​Music therapy is an evidence-based practice, using music and music-based activities to support those who are facing challenging life situations. In music therapy, clients are assisted in finding meaningful, familiar music that can help them find solid ground within their lives, identity and relationships, and in creating new music that can help express and explore psychological and emotional needs. Music therapy can help to provide pain and stress management, and the process is tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Mark whelan

Your Story Recorded

Mark Whelan is the person behind "Your Story Recorded".
With his background in media and audio production spanning over 30 years Mark is well accomplished in the art of interviewing and listening to people's stories, he also presented The Clonmel Podcast for 4 years and is currently at the helm of Timeless Tales and Business Pod as well as presenting a morning show five days a week on local radio.

Your Story Recorded is the perfect way to preserve those precious memories, having your family history lasting forever for future generations,  and what better way than having the person tell the story themselves.

Mark will come along and interview them in the comfort of their own home using tiny wireless microphones attached to their lapel, so they will feel calm and relaxed, they will hardly know they are being recorded, in fact it's more like having a chat, asking about the early days, growing up, family history, etc. Family members can also pass on questions to be asked.

When the interview is complete, Mark takes it away to be edited, if needed, where the recording is then saved onto a small Flash Drive and handed to the family member in a lovely presentation box.

I am an IACP-accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with
over fifteen years of experience. I hold a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy, along
with Certificates in Psychology and Counselling Skills.

​I have worked with a diverse range of issues, including Bereavement and Mental Health, in both private and community organizations and private practice. For over five years, I have been a Bereavement Counsellor and Psychotherapist with South Tipperary Hospice.

My integrative approach combines my training and experience with evidence-based techniques to help clients process their grief and loss. My goal is to assist them in understanding their grief, finding healthy coping strategies, and adjusting to life without their
loved ones. I address complicated grief reactions, including family dynamics and other mental health conditions related to grief and loss.
